Interpreting & Translation

In March 2006 our Chief Executive Billy Rae signed a new service level agreement with C.I.T.A.S. (the Community Interpretating, Translation and Access Services). This agreement will enable all our tenants and residents to have any of the information which we produce translated into an appropriate language. With this and the fact that our tenanct agreement is now available on DVD (also with other language options) our client should always we well informed about all our services.

Translation cards are also available in all our area housing offices, Riverview House and in the Town Hall. People can pick up one of these free cards in their language, and whenever they need to speak to someone, can hand over the card so the officer knows that they need a translator who can speak Polish or Arabic, for example. But not only can these cards be used in housing offices', they could be used in virtually any setting such as a hospital or police station.

Currently 11 different language cards are available in Arabic, Somali, Farsi, Polish, Spansih, Amharic, Tigrinya, Bengali, Kurdish, Albanian and Portugese.

For all translation requests, please contact either you local area housing office or email hfhomeseditor@hfhomes.org.uk

We have also provided links to free website translation services "Bablefish" and "Google" which will translate the information on web pages from English into selected languages. The translation will not be perfect but it is understandable.
