Specialist cleaning

The local caretaking teams are supported by a central team that operates borough wide. This central team is called 'Specialist Cleaning Services' and they carry out programmed cleaning activity to our blocks and estates such as stripping and polishing floors, degreasing and cleaning chutes & bin rooms, high level window cleaning, and daily domestic cleaning to our sheltered housing blocks. They also remove graffiti that the local caretaking team cannot deal with (either because of the type of graffiti or it's volume).

They have recently become involved in 'prestige cleans' to communal areas following completion of Decent Homes work when the contractors are ready to leave site.

In addition to all the cleaning activity, the team are responsible for training our caretaking service to a professional standard monitored by the British Institute of Cleaning Science - we have 5 BICS assessors on the team, and also deliver a range of Health & Safety based training courses.

The BICS assessors provide advice on cleaning problems to the local caretaking teams, and have been involved in developing the Decent Homes specifications by testing and recommending floorings and anti graffiti systems ensuring that if they're used on a project, they'll be easy to clean for the local caretaker.
