Moving options / LOCATA

Moving Options for tenants

If you hold a secure tenancy of the council in a property managed by H&F Homes in this borough, you can apply for a transfer to move to another property.
To do this you will need to fill in a Transfer Request form which is available from any one of our area offices or Riverview House.

Transfer Request Form

It is very important you answer all the questions on the form fully. We need as much information as possible from you to assess your circumstances fully and place you in the right band.

When we receive your form, we will date stamp it and record it in our correspondence log so we know the date we received it. We will then check the information contained in the form and if we cannot register your application, we will write to you and explain why this cannot be done within 10 working days of receiving your form. When we have all the information we need, we will input the information into our computer system within 10 working days.

It is important that you provide all the relevant documentation requested and the passport sized photos. There are guidance notes on the form to help you.

If you have any difficulty completing the form please contact the rehousing service and we will try and help you over the phone. If we can't do this, we will arrange for you to come into the office and receive help. In some cases, we can come and see you at home. If an interview or home visit is required we will arrange to see you within 10 working days of you contacting us.

Once your details have been entered onto the system, they will be transferred via a secure link to the locata office. You will become a member of locata, the choice based lettings scheme and you will receive an information pack. See the section on being a member of Locata.

Transfer Schemes

H&F Homes administer four transfer schemes on behalf of the council to help those tenants whose present home is no longer suitable, to move to another property.

Any tenant who has a secure tenancy may apply for a transfer to one of the following schemes:-
• The General Transfer Scheme for tenants who are overcrowded, have medical problems or just wish to move to another property.
• Beneficial Transfer Scheme for tenants who wish to move from larger to smaller accommodation
• Management Transfer Scheme for tenants where there is a serious tenancy issue and rehousing is considered the best option to resolve the crisis, for example racial harassment or domestic violence (tenants under this scheme will be made a direct offer, see the section in the moving options booklet on special arrangements)
• Decant Scheme provides temporary or permanent moves for tenants whose property is affected by major works, which cannot be carried out with the tenants in occupation. In addition the scheme supports large scale decant programmes associated with major redevelopment initiatives.

Choice based lettings – LOCATA

Hammersmith & Fulham Council is a member of Locata, which is a choice based lettings scheme. A number of neighbouring boroughs and housing associations are also members which means that you will be able to bid for some properties managed by them.

Locata - choice based lettings, means that you can bid for a vacant property rather than waiting for H&F Homes to find one for you. Locata gives you more choice of where you want to live, and the type of home you want to live in.

You will become a member of LOCATA after your transfer application has been assessed and registered.  You will be sent a letter explaining how the scheme eorks and confirming your band, priority date and the size of the property you are eligible to bid for and a batch of coupons.

Properties are advertised in a fortnightly magazine, which can be collected at area offices and other council buildings and viewed on line www.locata.org. Or you can pay to have this delivered to your home.
