Message from HAFFTRA
Hammersmith & Fulham Federation of Tenants & Residents Associations (HAFFTRA) is the Borough-wide federation for tenants and residents groups in council property in the Borough.
HAFFTRA offers training to tenants and residents groups on a wide variety of subjects. Chairing meetings, secretarial skills, increasing membership and bookkeeping are all covered annually. We are often called in when T&RAs are in difficulties, to look at issues such as the structure of the group, advice on constitutions or the management of their halls. We produce leaflets and publicity materials; link T&RAs to relevant local contacts (police, Groundwork West London, Council and H&F Homes officers, etc.) and work on policy and delivery on matters like repairs, the Decent Homes programme, anti-social behaviour and a whole host of other issues. Our help and support extends to all Council T&RAs in the borough in any stage of development.
We also have a mail out at least once (often twice) a month to tenant representatives on our mailing list, with items of interest and minutes of the monthly General Meetings. We have assisted tenants in street properties and small blocks (not on estates) to set up HAFNEP - Hammersmith and Fulham Non-estate properties. We were also instrumental in the launch of a fully constituted forum for Sheltered Tenants.
