the H&F Credit Union extended its opening hours to ensure that hard-pushed shoppers spend wisely during the festive season...

The Credit Union is targeted hard-pushed shoppers by using the festive season to launch its new Saturday opening.

From November 21st,  the H&F Credit Union, in North End Road, opened on Saturdays from 9.30am to 12.30pm.

With families under pressure to deliver the perfect presents to their children at a testing time, the H&F Credit Union will be able to offer more local residents straightforward and affordable loans to help them out with their Christmas purchases, along with saving plans to help them prepare for next year’s festivities.

Santa took time out of his busy schedule to pay a visit to the new look H&F Credit Union on November 21st and again on the December 5th.

H&F Credit Union was launched in December 2008, with the support of the LBH&F and is different to a bank because it is the credit union account holders that actually own it.

Leader of the Council,  Cllr Stephen Greenhalgh said:

“Christmas is a time of celebration but for many people, especially in the middle of a recession, it can see them run up huge debts.

“The Credit Union encourages people to save and offers simple, affordable loans that can save residents falling into the clutches of evil loan sharks.”

Anyone who lives or works in the borough can become a member of H&F Credit Union and benefit from a range of services it provides, such as saving schemes and affordable loans. All members’ money is guaranteed by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme so the credit union is a safe and ethical place to save and borrow.

It also has a satellite branch in Shepherds Bush at the Opportunities Centre 372-376 Uxbridge Rd which is open from 10.30am to 3pm every Tuesday.
