H&F Homes Equality Impact Assessments

Introduction

H&F Homes is committed to providing accessible services to all its residents and to ensure that this happens we have to check that all its policies, procedures, strategies and functions do not discriminate against or exclude any groups or communities.

It is necessary to carry out the assessments in line with the

>> Race Relations (Amendment) Act 2000 and in line with the

>> Requirements of the Equality Standard for Local Government.

What is an Equality Impact Assessment?

An Equality Impact Assessment is a screening process that takes place before for example a policy is introduced or at the stage an existing policy is to be reviewed.

It is a method of ensuring that our services and policies are not inadvertently or unintentionally discriminating against particular groups. This is something we have to do by law and ensuring that we address any issues.

EIA Progress:

  • H&F Homes has developed an Equality Impact Assessments timetable

  • We have produced a template and guidance notes for staff, which will ensure that they have the tools and knowledge to carry out the assessments

  • Scrutiny, monitoring and sign off structures are established and will monitor the actions and outcomes of the assessments.

  • All EIA’s conducted will be published on the website.

How to get involved in the process

It is an essential part of the process that we actively involve and consult with our residents, staff, partners, stakeholders and the wider community to gain their views and experiences when accessing and using our services. Your views count and through the Equality Annual Report 2010 will identify what we have improved based on your experience.

If you would like to get involved in the process please contact the Equality and Diversity Team to find out more on 0208 753 4779 or 0208 753 4025 and by e-mail on Nivene Powell or Annmaire Saunders
